Connaught Brass (brass quintet): The Musicians’ Company #MiddayMusic

Connaught Brass joined the Musicians' Company Young Artists' Programme after being awarded our #RoyalAcademyofMusic Brass Ensemble Prize in 2018. Here they perform Prelude and Fugue in E Minor (from 8 Little Preludes) by J.S. Bach arr Graber, and Vals Peruano from Suite Americana by Enrique Crespo. Connaught write: "Whilst 2020 has brought its own set of challenges, the members of Connaught brass have all individually been graduating with Bachelors degrees from the Royal Academy of Music and Guildhall School of Music and Drama during and in between lockdowns. We are thrilled to be performing together again, and are really looking forward to some exciting concerts and recording projects coming up in the UK and in Europe. We are extremely grateful to the Musicians' Company for this opportunity, and for setting up such a wonderful initiative. For our #MiddayMusic concert, we’ve decided to firstly play an arrangement of Bach’s E minor Prelude and Fugue, by G. Graber. We chose this because it’s such an evocative piece - it has a deeply dark, soulful richness to it that seemed perfect for our return after months of forced separation. And to lighten the mood, Vals Peruano from Suite Americana by Enrique Crespo. A taster of future events, we will be playing Suite Americana in full in the Canterbury Music Club concert. When coming up with our programmes, we like to be able to wander the line between serious and playful. Hopefully today’s #MiddayMusic video will showcase exactly that." -------------------------------------------------- Musicians' Company Profile - Musicians' Company Interview (2019) - Our #RoyalAcademyofMusic Brass Ensemble Prize - Connaught's Website - Connaught's Facebook - Connaught's Instagram - -------------------------------------------------- Join our weekly #MiddayMusic e-news at #MiddayMusic is supported by generous donations from the public and funds from the Musicians' Company’s Prince’s Prize which received a generous endowment in 2015 from The Eranda Rothschild Foundation and Rothschilds Bank, in memory of Leopold de Rothschild, a Liveryman of the Musicians’ Company for over 50 years.
