Our main aim is to expand the music for brass dectet well beyond that which already exists, and our repertoire centres around new, bespoke arrangements of canonical piano and orchestral works. We pride ourselves on our ability to give these well-known classics a new brassy sheen, and to encourage listeners to experience familiar repertoire in a new way. For our #MiddayMusic video we have chosen to record the Menuet and Rigaudon from Ravel’s Le Tombeau de Couperin, arranged for brass dectet by our very own trombonist, Will Foster. These two movements are not just personal favourites of the group, reminding us of previous concerts and competitions, but also, we believe, have a history which resonates with the current situation. Le Tombeau de Couperin was originally written by Ravel as a homage to friends and colleagues who had died in the First World War. Crucially however, the music of the suite transcends this tragic context, and Ravel chose to commemorate his fallen friends with some of his most beautiful, elegant, and indeed innocent music. We believe that this makes the music particularly relevant today: despite what is going on around us, music still has the capacity to transcend its environment, and transport us to somewhere wholly devoid of tragedy and anguish." -------------------------------------------------- Musicians' Company Profile - http://www.wcom.org.uk/yeoman/ibex-brass About our RAM Brass Ensemble Prize - http://www.wcomarchive.org.uk/--ram-brass Musicians' Company interview (2019) - http://www.wcom.org.uk/news/interview-with-ibex-brass-trumpeter-bradley-jones Ibex Brass do not have a website, but many of their members have social media profiles: Aaron Akugbo - http://www.instagram.com/aakugbo http://twitter.com/aarontrumpet37 http://www.youtube.com/user/afroscot12 Bradley Jones - http://www.instagram.com/bradleyjonestpt Illiam Quane - http://www.youtube.com/user/IlliamQuane Katie Lodge - http://www.southbanksinfonia.co.uk/musicians-profile/10596/katie-lodge Angus Butt - http://www.instagram.com/angusbutt1 -------------------------------------------------- Join our weekly #MiddayMusic e-news at http://eepurl.com/dv0ccr #MiddayMusic is supported by funds from the Musicians' Company’s Prince’s Prize which received a generous endowment in 2015 from The Eranda Rothschild Foundation and Rothschilds Bank, in memory of Leopold de Rothschild, a Liveryman of the Musicians’ Company for over 50 years.
