Rustam Khanmurzin (piano): The Musicians’ Company #MiddayMusic

Rustam Khanmurzin joined the Musicians' Company Young Artists' Programme after being awarded our #RoyalCollegeofMusic Lambert Fellowship in 2019. Here he performs Ravel's La valse. Rustam says: "Hello and welcome! My name is Rustam, and I’m a #RoyalCollegeofMusic student currently holding the Constant and Kit Lambert Junior Fellowship supported by David Young Prize. Before the lockdown I performed in such venues as St John’s Smith Square, Victoria and Albert Museum, Pushkin House, Starr Cinema (Tate Modern), Cadogan Hall, St Lawrence Jewry, along with recitals for Berlioz Society, Consort and Boodles Clubs, and in cities of France, Russia, Italy and Spain. My major competition awards include the 1st Prize at #RoyalCollegeofMusic Concerto Competition 2019 and 3rd Prize at Clamo International Piano Competition. I’ve chosen La Valse for the Midday Music because I feel that in the current situation of some global challenges it’s always good to look for historical analogies. The waltz was finished right at the end of the World War I and we can hear that in destructive quality of roaring orchestral tutti; and its lyrical episodes and bright major tone remind about hope and humanity – something that helps to overcome any disaster." -------------------------------------------------- Musicians' Company Profile - About our Lambert Fellowship - Rustam's Website - Rustam's YouTube - -------------------------------------------------- Join our weekly #MiddayMusic e-news at #MiddayMusic is supported by funds from the Musicians' Company’s Prince’s Prize which received a generous endowment in 2015 from The Eranda Rothschild Foundation and Rothschilds Bank, in memory of Leopold de Rothschild, a Liveryman of the Musicians’ Company for over 50 years.
