New Elizabethan Award 2022: Selection Round Result

On July 14th the Selection Round of the Company’s 3rd New Elizabethan Award took place at the Royal Academy of Music.

The distinguished Panel comprised Emma Kirkby DBE, Julian Anderson CBE, Pastmaster Leslie East OBE (kindly standing in for John Gilhooly CBE who was ill), Nigel North, Craig Ogden and Christopher Stell, with Pastmaster Michael Lewin as non-voting chairman.

Of the eight performances four were for by solo guitarists, one by a solo lutenist and the other three by duos of guitar and soprano, guitar/lute and soprano, and guitar and soprano/double-bass.

The Panel were delighted with the variety and imagination of the candidates’ programmes and noted outstanding qualities in each performance. An article about the Selection Round will appear in the next issue of Preserve Harmony.

The Panel finally selected as Holders of the New Elizabethan Award 2022-23:

The Holders of the New Elizabethan Award will share the NEA Showcase Recital at Wigmore Hall on Saturday 4th February 2023 at 1 pm and subsequent concerts.
