Tina May Award 2025

Booking is now open for the Tina May Young Jazz Musician Competition, on Sunday 7th September at PizzaExpress Jazz Club Soho. Doors open at 6.30 pm and the show will begin at 7.30.

This year’s competition will be for a jazz singer and the Company’s Jazz Committee has selected five of the most outstanding young artists from among the UK’s leading jazz musicians: Immy Churchill, Sylvie Noble, Lucy-Anne Daniels, Emily Masser and Ava Joseph.

The singers will be accompanied by a wonderful band led by previous Tina May Award winners James Davison (MC/trumpet) in 2018, Steve Brown (drums) in 1999, joined by Liam Dunachie (piano) and Jeremy Brown (bass).

The Winner receives the Company’s coveted medal, a prize of £1,000 and the opportunity for them to perform with the band of their choice as part of the Company’s jazz programme next year. The Jazz Committee have introduced a jury to decide the winner which this year will be made up of distinguished jazz vocalists Elaine Delmar and Liane Carroll, plus an additional prize to be awarded by an audience vote on the night.
