- Time: 1:05pm
- Venue: Bishopsgate Hall, EC2M 4QH
- Cost: £Concert free; lunch £49
NOTE 25/09/2015: It is with great regret that the Bach Cantata concert has been cancelled. On Wednesday morning, part of the ceiling of Bishopsgate Institute Great Hall collapsed. Surveyors have recommended that the hall should be closed indefinitely and that no events take place there. This means that the City Music Society series of autumn concerts will have to be cancelled as no other suitable venue is available at an affordable cost and with a suitable piano.
The Livery Lunch will take place as planned at the Andaz Hotel, 40 Liverpool Street, London EC2M 7QN but will now be at 1.00 pm.
Two of J S Bach’s most beautiful church cantatas (no 132: Bereitet die Wege, bereitet die Bahn BWV 132 and no 9: Es ist das Heil uns kommen her BWV 9) adorn this annual celebration in collaboration with The City Music Society. A consort of baroque specialists from the leading London conservatoires is joined by four outstanding young soloists from the Royal College of Music and is led by Adrian Butterfield, one of the UK’s leading baroque violinists and director of the Tilford Bach Society.
The concert is open to all. Lunch following the concert is for Company members and their guests and will take place at Andaz Liverpool Street. Booking is now open via the Members’ Area of the website.
