Honorary Fellow Event 2026
- Date: 23 April 2026
- Time: 6:30pm
- Venue: Girdlers' Hall
- Cost: £25
MEET THE 2026 HONORARY FELLOW: Thursday 23rd April 2026 at 6.30pm, at Girdlers’ Hall, Basinghall Avenue, London EC2V 5DD
The Rt Revd and Rt Hon The Baron Williams of Oystermouth (Dr Rowan Williams), the 104th Archbishop of Canterbury, acknowledged internationally as an outstanding theological writer, scholar and teacher, is this year’s Musicians’ Company Honorary Fellow.
To mark this award, Rowan has offered a talk, on the evening of Thursday 23rd April 2026, to take place at Girdlers’ Hall, which has been generously offered by the Master and Court of the Girdlers’ Company.
In his specially curated talk on ‘Spirituality and Music’, he comments: ‘What we call the spiritual is really – paradoxically – a way of existing as a bodily being. Few things illustrate this more clearly than music. In this talk, I will look at some of the ways in which this can be approached, and some examples of how Christian thinkers have imagined the relationship, in terms of time, breath, emotion, and community.’
The talk and discussions will end by 7.30pm and will be followed by a sparkling wine and canapes reception. Guests are welcome to arrive from 6pm for a pre-talk drink and the event will end by 8.30pm.
The cost of attending the event is £25, which includes the reception afterwards. We will be joined by members of the Girdlers’ Company.
Please book via the Members’ Area of the Company website www.wcom.org.uk no later than noon on Monday 20th April. Places are limited to 70 and you may bring a guest.
