The Prince’s Prize 2025

The winners of the Prince’s Prize 2025 are Strahinja Mitrovic double bass and Mabelle Park violin.

Strahinja is the first double bassist to ever win Guildhall’s Gold Medal (previously won by Jacqueline du Pre and Sir Bryn Terfel) and Mabelle is the winner of the Royal Overseas League String Prize. The Award was presented at the Prince’s Prize concert held on 2nd April at the Music Hall in the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. The panel of adjudicators comprised pianist Deniz Arman Gelenbe, pianist Berendina Norton MBE and retired Royal Opera House Executive Producer Ben Pateman.

The Prince’s Prize was established to mark the installation of The former Prince of Wales as an Honorary Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Musicians on 21 November 2003. The Prize is to recognise the most promising young instrumentalist or singer from the Companys award winners in the current year and consists of an award of £5,000 and a Silver Medal.

The Prince’s Prize, received a generous endowment in 2015 from The Eranda Rothschild Foundation and Rothschilds Bank, in memory of Leopold de Rothschild.

This year the panel decided the award should be shared between Strahinja and Mabelle, who will each receive £2500 and a Silver Medal. Mabelle also took home the Prudi Hoggarth Audience Prize of £500 generously sponsored by Col Tim Hoggarth in memory of his late wife.
