Biography

Anna Patalong trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama under the guidance of John Evans. She is the 2014 Second Prize Winner of the Francisco Viñas International Singing Competition at the Liceu‚ Barcelona and 2013 Third Prize Winner in the Moniuszko International Vocal Competition, Warsaw. During her time at college she received numerous awards including the Maggie Teyte and Miriam Licette Prizes and was a finalist at the Kathleen Ferrier Awards. She was named as the Concordia Foundation Young Artist by the Worshipful Company of Musicians and is a Samling Scholar.

Current and future Operatic plans include Mimi La boheme for Theater Lübeck‚ Annchen Der Freischütz (Opéra de Limoges), the cover of Roxana Krol Roger (Royal Opera House) Woglinde (Ruhrtriennale Festival) and her debut with the Opéra National de Paris in 2016. Anna joins the Sinfonia Varsovia for two recitals in this season’s ‘La folle journee’ series in Warsaw.

Concerts include Vivaldi Gloria and Magnificat (Royal Albert Hall)‚ Rutter’s Mass of the Children and Britten’s Spring Symphony (Salisbury Cathedral)‚ a recital for the Lord Mayor of London’s Alderman’s Banquet at Mansion House, Ravel’s Mallarmé Songs (St Endellion Festival)‚ a recital of French Song and a concert with the Samling Foundation and Sir Thomas Allen‚ both at the Wigmore Hall.

Further operatic roles include Flowermaiden Parsifal (Royal Opera House)‚ Pamina The Magic Flute (English Touring Opera)‚ Beauty The Triumph of Time and Truth (Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe), Lauretta Gianni Schicchi (Opera Holland Park)‚ Terinka in Dvorak’s Jakobin (Buxton Festival Opera)‚ Eleonora in Salieri’s Prima le musica e poi le parole (West Green House), Serpetta La finta giardiniera (Buxton)‚ Zerlina Don Giovanni (Mid Wales Opera)‚ title role Cendrillon (Blackheath Halls)‚ Anne Trulove The Rakes’s Progress (St Endellion Festival)‚ Elle La Voix Humaine (Battersea Arts)‚ Lisette La Rondine (Go Opera / Opera di Peroni)‚ Pedro Don Quichotte (Chelsea Opera Group)‚ Musetta La bohème for BYO‚ Donizetti’s Rita‚ Soeur Blanche Dialogues des Carmélites for GSMD and Susanna Le nozze di Figaro for Opera Brava. Roles studied at Guildhall also include Massenet’s Manon‚ Ilia Idomeneo‚ Nedda Pagliacci‚ Asteria Tamerlano and Sandrina La finta giardiniera.

In much demand as a recitalist‚ Anna has performed in concert at many prestigious venues across Britain including the Royal Opera House Crush Room‚ the Wigmore Hall‚ the Barbican and as guest soloist with the choir of King’s College Cambridge at the Royal Albert Hall. Engagements abroad have featured festivals in Italy and Tel Aviv. Anna has appeared on BBC Radio 3’s In Tune and on Hear and Now with a live broadcast from the Barbican of George Crumb’s Ancient Voices of Children in the presence of the composer. She gives a variety of chamber performances‚ most recently the famous Villa-Lobos Bachianas Brasilieras for soprano and eight celli and Barber’s Knoxville: Summer of 1915.
