Biography

Catherine Rajhans was born in Kyiv, Ukraine in 2003. She began studying the harp with Yelizaveta Herasina at the age of five at the Shamo Music School in Kyiv where she was also studying piano and violin. From 2014 she continued her studies at the Chopin music school in Moscow with Lena Watson. During that time, Catherine participated in numerous international competitions, receiving nominations and prizes for her performances. She later returned to Kyiv and enrolled for A Level Distance Learning course through Junior Trinity, London.

Catherine completed her BMus at Trinity Laban under the guidance of Gabriella Dall’Olio, the Head of Harp, and Frances Kelly, Professor of Early Harp. She had taken part in Masterclasses with Isabelle Perrin, Sylvain Blassel, Fabrice Pierre, Isabelle Moretti, Heidi Krutzen, Sivan Magen, and participated in summer cources in Britain (British Isles Music Festival) and France (Academiemusicale de Gargilesse Pierre Jamet), taking part in public concerts. She is going to start MMus at Trinity Laban at September 2026.

Catherine performed at the Human Rights Conference at the Foreign Office in 2022, and London Fashion Week in 2023 and gave several harp solo and duo recitals across the UK during her study. She received Richard Harrison Trust Scholarship and she is the winners of the John Marson Harp Prize for Outstanding Musicianship in 2024.

Catherine is a passionate chamber player, she performed in different chamber groups such as flute, viola and harp trio; flute, clarinet and harp trio; flute bassoon and harp trio; voices and harp; choir and harp; and a harp duo.

Catherine Rajhans has also gained an experience in playing symphonic music and operas with such orchestras as Regents Opera, Rehearsal Orchestra, Hastings Symphony Orchestra, Trinity Laban Symphony Orchestra, New Palace Opera and Southgate Opera.
