Biography
Madeleine is an MD, pianist, orchestrator and teacher. She is delighted to be studying Musical Direction and Coaching at the Royal Academy of Music and was awarded the Musical Direction Scholarship from the Worshipful Company of Musicians in 2025.
Madeleine grew up in London playing classical piano and viola, then later studied jazz trumpet and accordion. She arrived at the University of Edinburgh to study mathematics and music, but through the local theatre scene found a love of musical direction.
In Edinburgh, Madeleine worked on over 30 productions. These included seven shows as MD at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, co-writing a musical Click to Connect and conducting and orchestrating The Edinburgh Gang Show (Edinburgh Festival Theatre). She also taught at the MGA Academy, Fierce Theatre Schools, and Captivate Theatre.
Her professional credits include being assistant MD/cover conductor on Hamlet (Royal Shakespeare Company), music assistant for a workshop (Playful Productions), keyboard player/programmer for Annie Get Your Gun (Frinton Summer Theatre), and MD for Robin Hood and The Importance of Being Earnest (Hounslow Arts Centre). She recently played for Company and Jesus Christ Superstar at the Buxton Opera House.
Madeleine also has a background in choral singing and has sung for the National Youth Choir of Scotland and as a scholar for both the Scottish Chamber Orchestra Chorus and the Schola Cantorum of St Mary’s Cathedral.
She is honoured to be joining the Musician’s Company Young Artist Programme and is excited to represent the company.
