Biography

Nico Widdowson is a London-based piano player whose style has one foot in the Harlem stride of the 20s and the other in the free improvised music of today. He is involved in various original projects including the grooves of ‘MABGATE’, the space explorations of Fergus Quill, and his own ‘Nico Widdowson Trio’ playing original music in venues across Soho and the rest of the country.

He graduated from Leeds Conservatoire in 2018 with a 1st class degree and since then has gained commercial success being featured on Giles Peterson’s show on BBC Radio 6, both Jamie Cullum and Deb Grant’s show on BBC Radio 2, Jazz FM, Worldwide FM and has been invited to play at festivals including We Out Here, Love Supreme, Manchester Jazz, London Jazz and Leeds Jazz Festival.

He is currently working on writing his debut trio record to be released in 2025.
