Biography

Yan Chen is a musical director, pianist, vocal coach and keyboard conductor, and has a great passion for singing.

Yan is currently training at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts on the MA Musical Direction course after graduating from Royal Academy of Music with her first MA in Collaborate Piano and Shanghai Conservatory of Music with her BA in Opera Coaching. Yan is the first Asian to hold the Musicians’ Company Award for Musical Direction in Musical Theatre.

Yan’s musical direction credits include the Korean musicals Santa Lucia and Stardust (in China). She was also the keyboard conductor in the Broadway musical Murder Ballade in the Chinese version. In London, she took part in the musicals Merrily we roll along, The Light in the Piazza and Jane Eyre at the Royal Academy of Music.
