Anna Szałucka joined the Musicians' Company Young Artists' Programme after she won both our Harriet Cohen Bach Prize and Maisie Lewis Young Artists' Fund award in 2015. Here she performs Three Preludes by Gershwin and Clair de Lune by Debussy. Anna writes: "Hello, welcome and thank you for joining us! My name is Anna Szałucka and I'm currently working at The #RoyalAcademyofMusic in London. Before the lockdown I was performing mainly around Europe cooperating with The National Fryderyk Chopin Institute, Wiener Beethoven Gesellschaft, The Arthur Rubinstein International Music Foundation, The Musicians' Company as well as BBC Radio 3, BBC Radio 4, Classic FM and Polish Radio among others. Main competition prizes included the 1st Prize together with four Special Awards at the 3rd Tallinn International Piano Competition, The Musicians' Company – Harriet Cohen Bach Prize, 2nd Prize and the Audience Prize at the Sheepdrove Intercollegiate Piano Competition as well as the 3rd Prize at the Sussex International Piano Competition. Most recently I released a debut CD with Naxos, celebrating Polish music of the 20th century. Today you will hear beautiful music which hopefully will bring some joy into your homes. I'll be playing Three Preludes by George Gershwin followed by the famous Clair de Lune from Suite Bergamasque, written by Claude Debussy. I'm currently in Kaunas (Lithuania) where I spent most of my Summer. I played a few concerts here which - regardless of the quarantine regime - were like a breath of fresh air after the months of lockdown. In July I performed at the Kaunas Piano Fest which this year focused on the theme of Litvak composers. Litvak is the term describing citizens of Lithuanian-Jewish origins which was the heritage of Gershwin's family tree. The funky Preludes will take you into the world of jazz and syncopations.
