Connor Fogel (piano): The Musicians’ Company #MiddayMusic

Connor Fogel joined the Musicians' Company Young Artists' Programme after winning our Music Direction in Music Theatre Award in 2016. Here he performs Liszt's Les Jeux D’eau à la Villa D’Este. Connor says: "The Inspiration for Les Jeux D’eau à la Villa D’Este comes from the beautiful fountains and expansive gardens of the Villa D’Este, where #Liszt was often a guest towards the end of his life. Although during this time Liszt was becoming increasingly depressed, reclusive and had withdrawn from public life (something I’m sure we’ve been able to relate to over the last few months), the music is not sad. It is ferociously hopeful, radiant and joyous. I think joy and hope are things we all need during these difficult times! I studied Piano at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, and gained a masters in Musical Direction from #Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts. As a pianist, I was awarded Second Prize at International Liszt Society Piano Competition 2019, The Phillipa Whitlaw-Yardley Memorial Prize 2016 and The Eric Hodges Prize 2014. In 2017 I was made the Andrew Lloyd Webber Associate Musical Director of The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama (The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama (#CSSDLondon) and in 2019 made my professional West End debut as Musical Director of Queen of the Mist at The Charring Cross Theatre. Last year I became Musical Director for #theRSC (Royal Shakespeare Company), and embarked on a UK and international tour. I also teach at the #RoyalAcademyofMusic and The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama." -------------------------------------------------- Musicians' Company Profile - Musicians' Company Interview (2020) - About our Music Direction in Music Theatre Award - Connor's Twitter - Connor's Instagram - Connor's Facebook - Connor's YouTube - -------------------------------------------------- Join our weekly #MiddayMusic e-news at #MiddayMusic is supported by funds from the Musicians' Company’s Prince’s Prize which received a generous endowment in 2015 from The Eranda Rothschild Foundation and Rothschilds Bank, in memory of Leopold de Rothschild, a Liveryman of the Musicians’ Company for over 50 years.
