Biography

Adam is an accomplished and eclectic freelance trumpet player based in London performing across a range of musical genres.  A graduate of Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, he gained a first class honours degree in trumpet performance followed by a Master of Music (distinction) degree supported by the Mahlowe Lelonek scholarship.  In 2022, Adam was awarded the Musicians’ Company Silver Medal as the most distinguished student at Trinity Laban Conservatoire.

With a particular interest in contemporary trumpet repertoire, Adam has performed works by Stanley Friedman, Karlheinz Stockhausen and Tōru Takemitsu and participated in masterclasses with renowned trumpeters Marco Blaauw and Russell DeVuyst.  Interested in digital musicianship using Ableton software, Adam enjoys experimenting with audio visual elements which combined with live instrumentation create dynamic and immersive performances.

As a member of Big Smoke Brass – UK (a brass function band and winners of the Trinity Laban Phillip Jones Brass prize in 2020), Adam performs at a wide variety of private and public events.  The band has played live on BBC Radio 3, Capital FM and at national sports venues.  He also held a ‘Dev’ seat with the London Musical Theatre Orchestra and performs with numerous provincial musical theatre ensembles.

Familiar with playing at many prestigious venues these include the Royal Albert Hall, Sheldonian Theatre, Globe Theatre, Birmingham Symphony Hall, The Sage, Cadogan Hall, St John’s Smith Square and Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club as well as numerous European concert settings.

Inspired by meeting Kenny Ball and his Jazzmen, Adam enjoyed learning the trumpet at a young age.  Motivated by inspirational trumpet teachers and meeting fellow players in community bands and orchestras he joined multi award winning Youth Brass 2000 eventually becoming Principal cornet.  He helped the band win all four major UK youth brass band titles in 2016 and the European Youth Brass Band championships in 2018 held at the TivoliVredenburg, Utrecht.  Adam continues his involvement in national championship banding as Principal cornet of Redbridge Brass Band.
