Biography

Jinhe Huang (b. 2002) is a Chinese violist based in the UK. Recent engagements have included performances at Wigmore Hall, St James’s Piccadilly, and The Firs, the birthplace of Edward Elgar. He performed in the 2026 Commonwealth Day Service at Westminster Abbey, broadcast by the BBC, and was selected for the inaugural City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (CBSO) Residency.

His work has been recognised through the Musicians’ Company Silver Medal, the Gwyn Williams Viola Prize and the RBC Strings Prize. His performance of Bliss’s Viola Sonata was featured by the Bliss Society.

He has selected for the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra Training Scheme and the Birmingham Royal Ballet Training Scheme, and has made guest appearances as Sub-Principal Viola with Central England Camerata and Brigantes Orchestra.

Beyond his orchestral work, Jinhe is the founding violist of the LANO Quartet, which has been invited to perform at festivals including the Malcolm Arnold Festival, the Elgar Festival and the Cheltenham Music Festival. He has also appeared at the Mendelssohn on Mull Festival and toured China in 2025, giving performances in Guangzhou, Wuhan and Chengdu.

Jinhe is currently a postgraduate scholar at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, where he studies with Adam Römer and Elliott Perks, having previously graduated with First-Class Honours from the Conservatoire.
