Biography

Rebecca Leung, born in the UK, is a British-Chinese pianist who began her musical training at the age of four. She quickly excelled at the piano and was admitted to the Junior Royal Academy of Music at the age of nine where her musical training continued until the tutelage of Tessa Nicholson. She was awarded many prizes during her years there including the Iris Dire Piano Prize which she held three years running.

An award winner at many international competitions, she was awarded fourth prize at the 2018 International Ettlingen Piano Competition in Germany, prizewinner of the 2021 International Pianale Piano Competition. Successes this year include the Winner of the 2022 Harriet Cohen Musicians Company Prize for the best interpretation of a Bach work.

Rebecca will make her recital debut in Germany later this year. She has previously made appearances at the Wigmore Hall, the Southbank Centre, London; Hrvatski Dom Split, Croatia and has performed with orchestra at the Talent Summer Music Festival in Brescia, Italy and at the Duke’s Hall, London.

Currently in the first year of her Master’s degree at the Kunst-Universität Graz in Austria with Markus Schirmer, her previous teachers include; Christopher Elton, Joanna Macgregor and Tessa Nicholson. She has previously received tuition from renowned artists such as Arie Vardi, Stephen Kovacevich, Steven Osborne, Michel Beroff, Pascal Rogé, and Yevgeny Sudbin.
